Fish Sambal

I have been posting recipes on chicken all this while, now for a change let us look at a fish dish and my husband's favorite Fish Sambal....As you all know, Malaysians love a lot of spicy food and sambal, I make variety of  sambal and this is one dish you will say no to if you are a fish lover. Without wasting much time let us look at the recipe.

Ingredients:

200g fish chunks
1 onion sliced
5 tbsp chili paste
1/2 tsp shrimp powder (belacan)
1 tbsp curry powder
1 tbsp chili sauce
1 tsp brown sugar
1 cup of water
Salt to taste
Oil to fry

Marinate fish with salt and curry powder with a tbsp of water, fry fish in deep oil and set aside.

In a pan, pour 2 tbsp oil add in onion fry until translucent, now add in shrimp powder, chili paste and water let it boil. When the gravy thickens add in fried fish, chili sauce, brown sugar, salt and mix well. When oil separates from the gravy our sambal is ready to be served.

Do try and let me know how it turned out.

I'm sending this recipe to myspicykitchen's

  1. Shrimp powder is a new ingredient to me. Interesting recipe. Will look out for shrimp powder and try fish sambal and we also love spicy food.

Thanks for sharing the recipe and participating in the seafood feast.
